SOUTHERN BRITTANY – 15th century lakeside manor house on 10 acres.
Situated in southern Brittany, only 15mns from the county town of VANNES, at the end of a lane and on the edge of a lake, you will find this superb manor house dating back to the 15th century. Le manor and its outbuildings form an enclosed courtyard. The manor itself is made out of locally masonned stone, and the main door is a splendid example of their craftsmanship, with in hand carved moldings and blazon. On the ground floor you will find the entrance hall with granite paving slabs and a spend double archway; a first room which has yet to be finished, but is presently used as a study; the main hall with its massive character fireplace and large French doors to the garden (a later addition obviously, but done in keeping with the “ensemble”), the there is a main “living” room with fitted kitchen, dining area around the fireplace, office area and TV lounge on the mezzanine. The spiral staircase in the tower gives access to the upper levels. The first floor is in two distinct halves, one having been refitted and offers two spacious bedrooms, corridor, shower room and toilet, then the second half which needs to be finished comprising of 4 bedrooms, thus one with an antechamber. On the second floor is the loft area, separated in two and where you will notice the floor is of clay tiles. In the way of outbuildings, directly opposite the manor is the old chapel and cart house which offers over 190 yrds² on the ground floor plus the loft. There is also a guardian’s cottage offering lounge with open plan kitchen, 3 bedrooms and a shower room. Differing smaller sheds, cellars and stables complete the group, and not forgetting the old ruined windmill situated about ½ mile up the road.
