The palace is one of the biggest historic buildings in Lower Silesia. It is located in the village of
Roztoka, 70 kilometers from Wroclaw and about 20 minutes by car from the Ksiaz Castle. The
Roztoka Palace was probably built in the 1500s, originally as a fortified manor. In 1720 it was
completely rebuilt as the Baroque residence of the von Hochberg family, former owners of Ksiaz.
In the years 1868-1871 Neo-Renaissance elements were introduced on request of Count Bolko
by a well-known architect, Olivier Pavelt. The palace has retained this form to this day. During the
Second World War works and collections of art were stored in the palace. After the war, it was
fully restored in the 1950s.
The palace is built on a rectangular plan with an internal courtyard and a tall, eight-storey clock
tower. It is surrounded by a moat with two arcaded bridges. It has three floors, a basement and a
usable attic. A gable roof is covered with tiles, which have been replenished. Two floors of the
palace are encircled by a wide corridor giving access to the rooms and halls, including the imperial
room, a two-storey ballroom, and a fireplace room.
There are fully preserved marble and wood fireplaces, bas-reliefs adorning the walls of the
ballroom, paintings of Begas (the brother of the creator of the Bismarck Memorial, which once
stood in front of the Reichstag in Berlin), richly decorated, cast-iron stair railings, central heating
covers and window bars, a coat-of-arms cartouche supported by figures of knights and
ornamental medallions, window stonework, and in the southern part – a spiral openwork
staircase made of cast iron and supported on a pole.
The palace is surrounded by a 12ha park and garden, where besides old trees an old orangery
and several summer pavilions are preserved, which are remnants of a former French-style
garden.
The property has full documentation, inventory and approved development plan for tourist and
recreational purposes. The palace is in excellent condition and is suitable for rapid development.
With the function of the ballrooms, restaurant halls and utility rooms fully preserved, it is possible
to create living space for at least 100 people. The property is fenced, inaccessible for visitors and
protected from damage.
