LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS
Maderuelo is located in the north of the province of Segovia. It is a 12th century medieval village that has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and belongs to the association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Spain.
It is a fortified village situated on the top of a cliff that rises above the Linares reservoir at the gates of the Hoces del río Natural Park and it is just over 140 km from Madrid.
The village is surrounded by the Linares reservoir, the second largest in the province, an area suitable for bathing, fishing, non-motorised water sports and only 30 km from the famous Ribera del Duero wine region.
The structure of the village is totally irregular, with a predominance of narrow and elongated blocks attached to the wall. As a whole, it is of undeniable interest as a representative example of a defensive medieval village with a strong landscape impact.
The area offers big and small game hunting, 10km away is the field of the Royal Spanish Shooting Federation of Castillejo de Robledo.
Its location an hour and a half from major capitals such as Madrid, Burgos, Segovia, Soria, Guadalajara and Valladolid, and only 20 minutes from the Ribera del Duero, makes it accessible in any season with little travel.
